Dhaba and guest house owner Manjeet Singh Grewal alias Jitabhai was summoned to the Delhi office in connection with the seizure of Rs 1.4 crore cash in ED's raid in Kolkata. Manjit Singh Grewal appeared at Panchna Bhawan in Delhi at 11 am on Wednesday. There are many allegations against the businessman ranging from share fraud to non-payment of income tax.
Apart from this, it has been learned through sources that the investigating officers of ED suspect that the money of coal smuggling would have been used in this work. On the basis of all those sources, ED officials have started questioning him. The incident of recovery of crores of rupees by ED in Ballygunge has already created a stir in the politics of the state. After searching for more than 10 hours in Ballygunge on February 8, the investigating officers recovered one crore 40 lakh rupees.
A desktop and several documents were also seized by the Enforcement Directorate. Later, a press release was issued by the ED and it was told that an attempt was made to convert black money into white through Manjit Singh Grewal alias Jitabhai, the dhaba owner of Ballygunge. An influential political leader tried to do this. Since then the issue of Jitabhai has been active in the politics of the state.
Meanwhile, many pictures of politicians along with Manjit Singh Grewal have also come to the fore. Suvendu Adhikari has tweeted many pictures. In one picture Mamata Banerjee is seen in one frame and in the other Mamata Banerjee's brother Karthik Banerjee is seen. Although Karthik Banerjee and his wife Kajri Banerjee have rejected all these allegations. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also showed the opposite picture. In that picture, Shubhendu Adhikari was seen in the same frame with the businessman.
